27-04-2018 Bong & His Penang Trip - Part 3: Butterfly Farm

After visiting Chew Jetty,
we headed to our next destination,
China House.
We were supposed to look
for their art space and shop gallery,
but we couldn't find it.
So instead,
we just walked through their pub,
backyard
and coffee shop...
It looked like they did have
very very good cakes!
Shall give it a try next time!
After that,
we just strolled our way
to Komtar area again...
Since we were tired
and thirsty,
and it was also around lunch time,
we simply chose a kopitiam ('asian style coffee shop')
for light lunch...
Cendol
and Fried Kuey Teow...
Nam nam!
After the lunch,
we continued the strolling
under hot sun
and in humid climate...
That's why after a while,
we chose to go for 'air-con' shopping
Lol!
From Penang Times Square
to Gama Supermarket,
we bought some clothes and then took a grab car
back to the hotel to rest....
For the dinner,
we chose a nearby Thai restaurant...
The food was not
as 'authentic' as I expected,
and I would say that it is HIGHLY recommended.
For the price,
taste
and portion of the food,
I would say it was just so-so.
After dinner,
we walked back to China House
for some 'night life'
and Eirik was so shocked that Georgetown was pretty quiet after 11pm.
Lol!
The next day,
we went to a new place in Penang
that Arne was very interested in!
YES!
Butterfly Farm!
which is known as Entopia now.
We were immediately greeted
by these friendly butterflies
right after we entered the 'farm'...

The farm is very different
from what I had visited when I was only 10 years old.
It offers more than just butterflies now...
and that's why it is so much to see....

To be continued...

16-04-2018 Bong & His Penang Trip - Part 2: New vs Old Jetty

Our second trip to Penang
was to pick up a friend
who flew all the way from Norway
to join the rest of our two weeks holiday in Malaysia.
It was our first time
taking bus (401E) from Georgetown to the airport.
The bus costed us not more than RM 5/10NOK for two
and the whole journey was about 1 hour...
with at least 25 minutes traffic jam around Komtar.
Lol!
After picking up our friend, Eirik,
my uncle offered to drive us to the hotel...
This hotel,
1926 Heritage Hotel
is located about 25 minutes walking distance
at Burma Road from Komtar.
All I could say about this hotel is
cheap
(we paid around RM 150/NOK 300 per night)
and it is not that far from other tourist attractions.
From the hotel,
we walked around a bit
and stopped at New World Park food court
for an early dinner.
They have promotion for beers,
(3 big bottles for RM 39/NOK 78)
so it is really a nice place for beer.
After that,
we continued the sight-seeing...
until about 7-8pm.
Bought some stuffs,
tried to fix a local sim card to Eirik for mobile data,
etc...
For dinner,
we chose this
What The Duck restaurant
at Nagore Square.
We ordered the Balinese crispy Bek-Bek
and WTD Spicy dirty duck rice...
I think the duck was really good
but the rest was just OK :)
The reviews on trip advisor were
slightly over-exaggerated.
We stayed at this area,
Nagore Square
after our dinner...
Eirik and Arne had some drinks,
but not for me :)
The next day,
we took grab from hotel
to Pengkalan Weld.
The driver recommended us
another so not popular jetty,
Lee Jetty,
which he thinks is much better.
We went there,
took a couple of pictures.....
and I decided to walk back to
Chew Jetty
that we basically come here every single year!
lol!
Though it hasn't changed much,
it is always nice to go there....
(OK! No more Chew Jetty next year!)
Just like before,
some pictures,
some shopping,
then we just moved on to our next destination.

To be continued...
XOXO
