From Kuala Lumpur,
we took Airasia with Value Pack package
(20kg checked baggage, vegetarian meal with water, 500MYR per person)
to Male, Maldives....
At the airport,
we were supposed to be picked up by the hotel,
The Beehive... but they were not there!
I had to ask the information counter,
and luckily they did know what was going on.
So we waited a bit,
then got picked up by the hotel,
drove through this SineMale Bridge.
It is also known as China-Maldives Friendship Bridge
due to the funding given by the Chinese government.
In addition to the excitement of not being picked up
immediately at the airport,
our driver was stopped by two police on their motorcycles.
What an experience!
We got dropped right in front of the hotel
(which I thought was much bigger based on the picture I saw on hotels.com).
The surrounding seemed pretty dark,
with lots of motorcycles...
and strange vibes....
We were welcomed with drinks,
and all we wanted to do at that time was to take a GOOD rest
and see Maldives in the sun!
The next day,
we woke up with this view from our hotel room....
After taking the 'simple' breakfast at the hotel,
we started exploring the Male island...
From middle of the city
to their artificial beach, Rasfannu Beach...
we were overwhelmed with this capital city,
which is also one of the most densely populated cities in the world.
From Rasfannu Beach,
we walked through small alleys,
interesting local shops,
Male Sea Port...
then slowly approached the market area.
Many of the shops are operating
at this shop lot staircase area...
and their goods come 'directly' from the ships
and boats right beside the pier...
