From Riga Castle,
we walked to Children's Monument and Three Brothers.
These three (at 17, 19 and 21 Mazā Pils Street)
are the oldest complex of houses in Riga.....
Next sight-seeing stop was the Swedish Gate,
and we walked past St. Jacob Catholic Cathedral,
some government buildings,
with police in action hehe...
The Swedish Gate looks
very "common",
like non-touristy, uninteresting...
but it is the history behind it
that is exciting.
Swedish Gate was back then
used to control all entries into the city....
Next stop
the Cat House....
Meow.....
Of course the design was part of
the wealthy status...
Around that area,
there is a lot of interesting monuments,
architectures...
And since it is tourist hot spot,
lots of nice cafes,
restaurants, souvenir shops one can find there.
We then walked past
Museum of Decorative Arts and Design...
before rushing back to our hotel
since I had a meeting scheduled that day....
We purposely visited Rozena iela,
which is a street that is super narrow
that one can touch both sides as he/she walks....
Oh,
what a creative way to turn trash container
into... treasure chest!
