Right beside the Thorvaldsens Museum,
there was this Christiansborg Palace,
with horse riding, Rigsdagsgården,
that looked so royalty-ish!
We came to this famous
Frederik VII sculpture...
and right beside the bridge,
we encountered a statue under water
"The merman with 7 sons"...
After some walking,
we began to feel hungry
as we hadn't had our breakfast yet....
While looking around a nice place
for our late brunch,
we passed by Nikolaj Art Gallery.
Originally a church,
it has been now "transformed" into a contemporary art museum.
We had our late breakfast
at this very famous bakery,
Lagkagehuset at Ny Østergade 12.
**Super cozy surrounding**
They even had some free cakes
for customers to taste!
After brunch,
it was The King's New Square
and Amalienborg.
We reached there
before the ceremony of guard changing was supposed to start....
But we got no luck :(
Everyone there waited for almost an hour,
and none of us got any information on what was going on.
We only understood that it got suddenly cancelled!
So we left
and continued our walk
to the very final destination...
we passed by Larsens Plads,
the museum The Royal Cast Collection,
Royal Pavilions,
etc..
Yes...
It was this Little Mermaid statue that
Arne had never visited,
despite having been to Copenhagen a few times!
Since we already had more than an-hour walk
from hotel to the little mermaid,
so the way back to the hotel was with public transportation :)
And this time,
we went to Jernbanecafeen
for the right "purpose"
which was to take a beer!
When we were there,
there was this exciting episode
with police coming in...
For dinner,
around the corner
we found this Takuya sushi.
Very good food,
for a small size
mostly take-away type of restaurant.
and after dinner,
**NO**
we "did not" buy any alcohol....lol!
At night,
we decided to go out and experience some city nightlifes,
which we rarely do....
The next day morning,
we had our very last day sight-seeing
after checking out from the hotel...
I wanted to let Arne try the very famous
Danish Smørrebrød....
but they were not opened on a Saturday!!!!
Anyway,
we then had the opportunity to explore another road
that neither of us had ever been down before,
walking past buildings like the city courthouse...
University buildings at
Frue Plads,
and Church of Our Lady...
The Round Tower,
Bench mother by Hanne Varming,
and then Kultorvet
with many interesting stalls.
After quite some walking,
finally we reached at Rosenborg Castle.
It is free for walking aroung,
but if you want to enter,
then you need to pay :)
After so much walking,
and almost no food for the entire morning,
it was time for a GREAT buffet!
We accidentally passed by this turkish restaurant with buffet,
and the food looked AMAZING!
So much good food...
only 99 danish kroner!!!
After the super heavy brunch,
we walked through Nørregade area,
and visited Church of Our Lady.
We also had some time
walking around Ørstedsparken
with a nice drink in the termos :)
The park is a lovely park
with many interesting statues!
Last-time walking pass
Sankt Jørgens Sø park,
but this time it was sunny and a lot warmer.
After picking up our luggage,
then it was time to go to the airport
and head back home....
That's all for our long-weekend trip
in Copenhagen!
XOXO
