17-03-2015 Bong & His Trip to Penang Part 5 (From Kopi 'O' to Penang Hill)

After a long evening walk
at Kek Lok Si Temple,
we had very good rest
and of course,
needed very good breakfast to start another long day~
I ordered Kopi 'O' (Black coffee)
for Arne to try..
and he liked it very much!
Not to forget,
Roti Kahwin (Married toast)!
But why it is called the married toast?
Because it is Kaya mixed Butter!
Perfect combination for toast~
I also had Arne trying other food
like this 'Loh Mee'
Arne pretended like not liking it...
but in reality
he loved the taste!
He wanted to take picture of me
since I had been always taking picture of him~
Well,
there you go
a proper pic of me
with splendid Nasi Lemak!
Since it was still Chinese New Year
we saw the lion dance right after we finished eating our breakfast~
Okay...
then it was time to resume the sight seeing again~
Our destination
was a place that I never been to as well~
"Penang Hill"
In order to go up to the hill,
we had to take this fast speed train~
which was pretty scary for me~
Well,
it was kinda scary for me
because the hill looks kinda steep~
After passing through the forest,
the tunnel..
a train ride less than 5 minutes...
then we arrived at the top of Penang Hill
712m above the sea level...
That was a very fast ride,
wasn't it?
To be continued..

14-03-2015 Bong & His Trip to Penang Part 4 (Kek Lok Si after sunset)

We reached the temple around 7 in the evening
and the sun was not down yet~
Of course even before the sunset,
the temple was already looking
breathtaking
with all the lantern decorations
and its nice interior~
But Arne was already feeling
tired walking because
it is a really BIG temple
with a lot of stairs~
At that time,
there was a lot of people
standing at some nice spots
waiting to take the perfect picture of the temple
during sunset~
Around quarter to eight...
they started switching on the lights~
As the sky turned darker,
the lantern lights seemed to shine even brighter~
Just touring around the temple wasn't enough for us..
thus,
We paid to go up this pagoda~
The view from the pagoda
was really spectacular~
Arne said
they looked like diamonds shining
in the dark~
Not just the temple,
we were able to see night views of Penang
at the Pagoda~!
Then at the pagoda,
we saw the big Guan Yin statue that we wanted to visit as well~
Thus,
we went down...
and walked to another side of the temple
which is the entry for this Guan Yin statue...
Though it was big queue
waiting to take the inclined lift,
it actually didn't take so much waiting time since
they had two lifts operating at the same time...
Needless to say,
the place was looking amazing with
so many lanterns decorating and lighting up
the temple in the night~
The Guan Yin statue was really
HUGE
as you can see its size in comparison with
those tiny human being ~
We ended the trip
after the visit of this Guan Yin statue...
Since it was kinda late
and there was crazy heavy traffic at the temple~
we didn't manage to get any taxi or bus from there.
(T.T)

Thus,
we walked for about 3 KM
then only managed to get a taxi ...

11-03-2015 Bong & His Trip to Penang Part 3 (Kek Lok Si before sunset)

After walking
and looking around
without any rest for about 2 hours,
we took a small break~
Arne had a can of beer
and of course I also ordered
'char hor fun'
for him to try~
After the small break,
we regained our energy
and walked to our hotel for checking in...
We rested for almost 2 hours at the hotel.
Around five in the evening,
we continued our sight seeing in Penang...
not on foot
but taking a bus this time~
since the destination we wanted to go
was not walk-able distance from our hotel~
The bus ride took only less than 30 minutes,
but we waited like 40 minutes just for the right bus~
Tips for taking bus going to this famous destination
"Kek Lok Si"
is ...
just hop in any bus numbered 201, 202, 203 or 204...
or
whenever a bus stops,
ask the bus driver if the bus is going to Kek Lok Si~
We dropped off the bus at the main road
and started walking towards the temple~
We passed by an old walking alley
where sellers had their shops opened there~
But around 6 in the evening,
most of the shops were already closed,
or closing soon~
Well,
I have not been to this temple for almost 8 years
and this part of the temple has not changed at all~
There were still a lot of
turtles~!
And
many people bought food to feed them~
To be continued...
