20-04-2025 Bong & His Fifth Post in 2025 - Easter 2024 in Gran Canaria "Finally the sand dunes!"

-Day Seven-
There are tones of apartment complexes
at Maspalomas,
and we stayed at one of them
right opposite the Cita Shopping Center.
It is not a super super big shopping center,
but it has grocery store,
restaurants and all other stuffs one needs!
**and more :)
From its exterior one would think
that it is some sort of amazing park,
but actually it is kinda normal
+ adult-ish inside :)
The area we stayed is close to bus stop,
and also of course,
one of the main tourist attractions,
the sand dunes!!
The nearest Mercadona was only 20 ish minute
walk from where we stayed,
and one day we walked there,
had a stop at this local cafe
called Cafeteria Flor De Vainilla....
On the same day,
we visited the sand dunes
for the second time,
and this time with my camera,
and all the way to the beach area....
We DID not do that last time due to I forgot my camera,
plus the wind was blowing crazily
so it was difficult to walk through the dunes!
Yes,
I walked barefoot
and it felt WARM!
The walk felt kind like
endless,
because it was like walking in a desert!!
And after walking for around 30 minutes,
we finally saw "something"
where we could have a break,
and I ran immediately towards it to buy us some beers!
We were exhausted
and dehydrated!!!
After visiting the sand dunes,
we had our dinner
nearby where we stayed,
a German restaurant named
Restaurante Travolta.
OK food,
OK price....
and we were surprised
with the amount of Germans there!
P.S.:
Nothing negative meant here,
just that we felt more German than Spanish there
that's why!

To be continued...
XOXO

01-04-2025 Bong & His Forth Post in 2025 - Easter 2024 in Gran Canaria "From Las Palmas to Maspalomas"

On our third day at Las Palmas,
we took a bus to visit the La Vegueta area....
and of course,
the very famous Plaza de Santa Ana!!
To get there,
it was too far to walk,
so we had to take a bus...
From the shores,
it was interesting to see
the marine businesses like platforms,
ships, etc...
**And it was interesting
to compare these views from late night and daytime,
as it was the same road the taxi used
driving from airport to hotel.
After around 10-minute bus ride,
we arrived at the La Vegueta area.
This area is well-known
for the colorful, historical buildings...
After wandering around the area,
we finally arrived at the Plaza de Santa Ana.
And funny enough,
the first thing that "impressed" us there
was not the famous historic cathedral,
but these groups of dog sculptures!!!
After visiting the Plaza de Santa Ana,
then we visited the Plaza de Espíritu Santo,
which is actually nearby,
and has this iconic fountain.
Then from there,
we navigated to Plaza de Santo Domingo,
and visited a parish named
Parroquia de Santo Domingo de Guzmán de Las Palmas.

After A LOT of walking,
then we decided to have a break.
We found this very cosy nice café named
Café Chic...
We ordered the specialty "Iberian Secret",
which is marinated meat
(cut found between the shoulder and the loin of the Iberian pig)
served with
pan-fried mushrooms
*highly recommended*
After the brunch,
we continued walking around for about an hour
then headed home from a different bus stop
that we originally arrived at.
That's all for Day Three!
And for Day Four and Five,
there were practically no pictures at all....
because we were just lying on the bed
most of the time due to food poisoning.
Day Six,
we managed to catch a bus on time,
and traveled from Las Palmas to
Maspalomas!
The bus trip took us about an hour,
and we were very glad that
our stomach coorporated well with us!
Along the way,
we also saw a lot of windmills...
and the first place we visited
after checking in
was of course,
the very prominent sand dune!!!
To be continued...
XOXO
