Our Easter holiday trip in Hamburg
started with taking this local train
from airport to city center...
Hamburg welcomed us
with amazing weather
and after about 20 minutes,
we arrived at Berliner Tor station.
From there,
we walked to our hotel,
ARCOTEL Rubin Hamburg.
After checking in,
we went out immediately to look
for some authentic German food
for our very first dinner in Germany!
From hotel,
we passed by this beautiful cathedral
Mariendom...
then came to this Lange Reihe street,
and saw a lot of the local people
were 'drinking' their dinner,
Lol!
(Most of them were just drinking!)
We went into this restaurant
Hacker-Pschorr Hamburg
and ordered
Bavarian Specialties
(Fried sausage, Munich sausage, meatball
and fried potatoes)
and
Schnitzel (pork escalope).
The food tasted authentic and the price was ok.
After the dinner
we went for a walk before heading back to the hotel...
We walked along
the lake side..
passed by Hl. Dreieinigkeits-Kirche
and Hansabrunnen
and then from that area heading back
to our hotel,
we realized that...
we were actually staying at a pretty 'international' area,
which reminded us of Grønland in Oslo.
We had to stop and shop,
and we were impressed with
the variety of stuffs they have....
The next day morning,
we took bus from U Lohmühlenstraße...
and headed to our first destination,
Hamburg rådhus
(the city hall).
We stopped at Gerhart-Hauptmann-Platz
and decided to walk a bit
as there was so much to look at.
From the beautiful shopping center Europa Passage
to Evangelical church,
St. Peter's Church...
and all of a sudden,
we already arrived at the city hall.
I thought we could see more
inside the city hall
but it was just the main hall...
with stairs at both sides
to other offices...
And that's it!
Not to forget,
a nice fountain right beside the city hall as well....
From city hall,
we walked to Adolf III statue...
then the St. Nikolai Memorial...
One can buy to go up the tower.
Then we went to Chile House
which is an impressionist building that resembles a ship...
passed by a local market there
and came to Hauptkirche St. Jacobi.
We went back to
Gerhart-Hauptmann-Platz
for more sight-seeing at
another area of Hamburg...
To be continue....
XOXO
