Our second day in Berlin
started at Siegessäule (Victory Column),
Tiergarten.
We had to use a underground tunnel
to get to this 67 meter-high monument....
and after that,
we took bus to our next destination....
Reichstag Building,
which is a government office
with a glass dome that offers 360 degrees city views...
Many people were queuing up
for the tour inside the building...
and it must be very nice to walk on that glass dome...
but Arne and I were not the kind of tourists
who like to join the crowd...
So we decided just to walk around the area instead...
We walked towards the river bank
and from there we walked to our next destination...
After 15 minutes walking,
we arrived at Brandenburger Tor
(Brandenburger Gate).
After snapping some pictures there,
we moved on to our next stop....
We were supposed to go to Berliner Dom,
but these buildings caught our attentions
and we just needed to stop there....
This place is Bebelplatz
which is surrounded by the Berlin State Opera,
university buildings,
and beside it is Neue Wache,
a memorial building of the Federal Republic of Germany
to the Victims of War and Tyranny...
We crosses the bridge,
and arrived at the beautiful
Berliner Dom (Berlin Cathedral Church)
which was sadly,
UNDER renovation!!!!
No difference to other tourist attractions,
we decided not to enter Berliner Dom,
as it looked so crowded
and one also needs to pay to enter!!
Well,
we entered a free church instead of
Berliner Dom! Lol!
(The TV-tower is also at that area)
This St. Marienkirche
(St. Mary's Church) is a Gothic-style
evangelical church...
and from there,
we walked to the very famous fountain,
Neptunbrunnen!!
The city/town hall
(Rotes Rathaus) was just right behind us
but we couldn't find a way to go there....
Arne got his ice-cream
while I tried to figure out our way....
We arrived at our next stop,
Alexanderplatz....
where I wanted to see this
Weltzeituhr (World Time Clock)!
There is also a very interesting market there,
with TONES of people, food,
souvenirs, TONES of stuffs....
Not to forget,
many nice shops that offer
amazing clothes at low prices!
From Alexanderplatz,
we took bus to our next destination...
