So for summer holiday this year,
we thought of driving another route,
to see and experience new stuffs....
Instead of driving through jungles,
we used the route besides Bottenvika,
which is the northernmost sea area in the Baltic Sea....
and came to this first stop for overnight
at Hammerstrand!
We checked in at this Hammarstrands Camping, Stugby och Fiske,
and had our very cosy, little, simple
old-fashioned cabin...
Surprisingly,
a so simple cabin costed us already almost 600 NOK!
Well, probably because no competition there....
The town itself is not super exciting,
and the route to this place wasn't super nice either...
The only positive thing I could recall is that the alcohol retailer (systembolaget)
was super easy to find,
and it is right beside a grocery store.
to get some rests before the next leg...
Before 5am,
we were already back to the road again!
After driving past tunnels, lakes,
all of a sudden we came to this re-route road,
and it was definitely something to remember!
At first we lost the GPS,
no wifi nothing...
and we had only one way to drive forward....
After driving like 30 minutes on unofficial jungle road
in the middle of nowhere
with the fuel at its very final level,
we finally came to the main road!
The farther north we drove,
the better the weather got!
And of course,
we were greeted by old friends
that we haven't met for years
**due to the pandemic, we only had been taking flights to the north**
Our second overnighting place
is at Gällivare,
a city that we know (shops like Systembolaget)
pretty well!
We also stayed at a stugor (cabin in Swedish)
for a night.
But with 800 NOK (200 NOK more than the one at Hammerstrand),
we got a small apartment to ourselves,
with our own kitchen,
bathroom,
and a living room too!!
After some rest,
we were back on the road again!
**Day three**
The road was a lot worse
than before!!
One thing strange with this year's trip
to the north is that we met very very little
caravan and camper along the way....
Since we were that early,
the nice buffet at Kilpisjärvi was not yet open
when we arrived.
But it wasn't that important anyway....
For us,
to arrive ASAP
in Malangen is the most important thing!
**No wonder we always slept so bad**
Lol!
After three-day of driving,
we finally arrived!
and this time,
we had our own summer cabin,
not at Mortenhals, but Ansnes!
XOXO
