18-07-2024 Bong & His Fifth Post in 2024 - First time not being able to eat up meals for two

After the boat trip,
we had our dinner at this Country Steakhouse!
As always,
we were given something on the house,
starting with some small appetizers.
We ordered Greek Meze for two
and I did not lie...
this was what it stated in the meny!
BUT look at the amount of food we got!!!
We couldn't finish everything,
and therefore had to take the rest as takeaway!!
**Almost 40% were left
AND
AND
AND
shots and desserts were on the house too!
This restaurant is highly recommended;
Good BIG portions food for very OK price!
and since they were having season-closing soon,
so we got another 20% discount!
**55,90 EUR for that amount of food and drinks**
Day 5:
Neighbourhood sight-seeing
From local olive tree farm,
to local doing greek BBQ **they are really good at that!!
and some really interesting stuffs in the shops...
Day 6: Trip to the city center
Zakynthos by local bus!
The bus was a bit delayed,
but not too much.
As the tourist season was soon over,
the buses were not running as scheduled sometimes lol!
The bus first
drove to Kalamaki
then from there to the "Zante town"!
As always,
it was fascinating to see foreign bus drivers
navigate those incredibly narrow streets!
The trip took around 30 minutes from Laganas
to Zante town,
and the bus station is located
right "beside" a hill.
Why this cute little dog
was following us?! Lol
After passing through a small alley,
we popped up at the main street...
We firstly wanted to visit the viewpoint in Zante town,
and on our way,
we passed by this beautiful Orthodox Church Of Ascension.
And then some interesting streets and
shops
**Like Nokia**
Walking through everything there
made us feel like we were stepping back in time.
After about 45 minutes walking
UPHILL,
we finally reached somewhere
that served something cold and refreshing
and wad not too far from our destination!
Lol!
**No wonder most tourists did not walk
and chose to use the train hehe!
After the small break,
we continued the walking....
It was very obvious that the neighbourhood
here had very different socio-economic status :)
Of course,
except the very old houses like this one.
But one could tell most of the stuffs there
are ancient in a way!
YES...
finally we reached the viewpoint!
From harbour to old, abandoned buildings,
the view from there
was a compelling blend of past and present....

Honestly, one could already get the best view
from this Zoodochos Pigi Holy Church.
Despite the short interval between the previous break and the next one,
we decided to have a brief pause
at this Latas Cafe-Bistrot to further enjoy the great view
and moment!
We had to try outthe very famous greek coffee
and fried feta!
From the viewpoint,
there was this Venetian Castle of Bohali.
We visited it and for the very first time,
Arne managed to utilize his seniorship
*discounted price for a senior person*
The entire castle is big,
with quite a number of ancient outbuildings,
like churches, jail, storerooms, etc.
Interesting enough,
something modern existed in an ancient place....
Lol!
From the castle,
it was another view,
more north side of the entire island....
Arne with another man...
Lol!

The view was even better
at the bastion at the castle...
To be continued...
XOXO
