Our trip to Helsinki began
with annoyance and uncertainties
from not having confirmed seats....
to confusing between arrival halls.
They could have had better signs!
For our three days trip in Helsinki,
I bought us Helsinki Card,
which is much more worth it than
buying the public transport tickets and all sight-seeing stuffs separately!
The process of collecting Helsinki Card
and taking the train to city center were pretty easy!
From super long elevator,
to local train with super complicated map,
we arrived at the city center
and quickly found a place for dinner,
because it was already pretty late!
We chose pizza hut,
which is not far from the Rautatientori (Railway square).
After the dinner,
we only needed to travel two stops to Ruoholahti,
where we had our hotel.
We stayed at Holiday Inn Helsinki - West Ruoholahti,
and the nice thing was we got upgraded to
executive room!!!
The executive room surprised me
because it was basically very similar to
a standard room in other hotel.
Well,
if executive room is like that,
I wonder how the original standard room that I had booked for is..
The next day,
we headed straight away to Kamppi,
which I had read that it is a cozy shopping area...
Well,
it wasn't what I expected it to be.
We passed by the city park,
Vanha kirkkopuisto....
There is this nice Lutheran Church,
Vanha kirkko
right beside/at the park...
We had our 'destination-less'
sight-seeing...
Without the help of local guide or map,
we managed to buy some red wines for ourselves...
and suddenly,
we just ended up at this beautiful park,
Park Esplanadi!
There are quite a number of
branded shops right beside this park,
including Iittala that we also had a quick look at.
Their price
was not any cheaper than in Norway...
At the end of the park
is this Havis Amanda statue...
We arrived at the famous market square,
but we were more interested in filling our stomach.
So,
we started searching for a recommended restaurant
which is located near to the University of Helsinki...
Along the way,
we passed by the very famous Helsinki Cathedral,
Helsingin tuomiokirkko...
After 10 minutes walking,
we arrived at this Ryan Thai ravintola...
They served asian/thai lunch buffet
for 10 Euro per person...
From warm dishes
to sushi and fruits,
we were just super super satisfied!
After the super heavy brunch,
we continued the destination-less
sight-seeing again...
Though it was destination-less,
but it wasn't energy wasted.
I managed to buy a pair of shoes at this
the one and only Skechers shop in Finland!
(Of course, discounted plus duty free!!!)
To be continued...
XOXO
