30-06-2024 Bong & His THIRD Post in 2024 - First time in Greece *Zakynthos*

**Finally after almost 10 months,
I had time to blog about this first trip to Greece!!!
So...where to start?
We began the trip with spending almost
9-10 hours at the airport.
We slept a bit, walked around a bit,
had our home-made breakfast there....
The flight was kinda early,
and we normally have pre-travel excitement.
The flight took about 4-5 hours
from Oslo to Zakynthos
and when we arrived there,
it was only noon time!
We took a vacation package,
with flight and hotel.
We stayed at this Canadian Hotel,
which is at Laganas.

We got our welcome drinks,
and the "first" room.
**We had to move to another room
the next day because it was a bit too noisy.
Although it has a nice terrasse,
it is at the ground floor
and a lot of parties were going on!!
After checking in,
we immediately started doing some sightseeing....
And of course,
we needed some food too!
Moussaka, gyros,
nice cold greek beer,
and the two small glasses there
**They were not water**
After that,
we went to the nearby shop to buy some groceries
and that's all for Day 1.
The next day,
we woke up kinda early...
and started looking around for
a nice place for breakfast.
However,
the area we stayed at did not seem to be
so "popular" for breakfast
**May be more common for night life!
We got to move to a quieter room,
and this was crucial as we were staying
for two weeks.
And I had work (meetings) with me!
The new room was at the very end of another building,
which is like the farthest from the "noisiest" areas,
i.e., swimming pool + other common areas.
From Laganas,
we decided to walk to Kalamaki.
It was about 1.5-hour walk.
The airport was like 7km
from Laganas and Kalamaki.
So we could see flights arriving at and departing from
Zakynthos all the time!
Once we arrived at the beach at Kalamaki,
we walked towards it "city center"...
Kalamaki is slightly bigger than Laganas,
a bit more posh
with more high-end resorts...
On the main road between Kalamaki and Laganas,
one could see all kind of interesting transport!
There was also this
amusement part that was already closed when we passed by.
**Guess the season for family with kids
visiting Zakynthos was over.
Of course,
we were visiting Malamaki not just because of the shops there!
Ta da....
my favourite....BUFFET!
**If not mistaken, the price was 15 Euro per person**
For our return walk,
due to safety reasons,
we needed to use the main road instead of walking through the beach
The main road was already super
duper dark at 8pm.
And before going back to the hotel,
we needed to buy some food for breakfast.
Day 3.
We had our appointment with the hairdresser
(MJ's Hairdressing Salon)
then brunch besides the pool....
with a nice view :)
Grilled lamb served with rice,
and for Arne,
american breakfast with some greek flavors!
From Laganas,
we walked towards another direction this time.
**Opposite towards Malamaki**
Then only we realized,
another side of Laganas had so much more stuffs,
from restaurants to tourist shops...
From the main street of Laganas,
we walked up from the beach....
and obviously,
there were nightlife activities along this main street.
For dinner,
we chose to eat at this Filoxenia Restaurant.
We ordered calamari, beef stifado,
sea bass grilled,
and local white wines.

We were lucky with the greek
dancing and plate smashing show
**At that time not every restaurant had it,
and not everyday for sure.
We paid around 37 euro for the whole meal.
Two more glasses on the house too,
in addition to the show!
Day 4.
We joined a trip to see the shipwreck,
and other stuffs such as caves and cliffs!
The minivan picked up people who had signed up,
and dropped all of us at the harbour.
Lots of small fishes were caught in the net...
amazing!!
When everything was ready,
we then departed to the Navagio Beach,
where wreck of the MV Panagiotis is located.
The boat departed from the harbour,
and we managed to have a good look at this Cameo Island.
On our way there,
we could also see other boats with tourists
visiting some famous caves...
To be continued...
XOXO
