08-10-2022 Bong & His Fall Update 2 - A long weekend trip to Stockholm (Part 1/2)

This was my second time to Stockholm
but first time for Arne,
as a "proper" tourist.
After landing in Arlanda airport and
having to wait for our luggage for sometime,
we took Arlanda express to Stockholm city center
using the discounted 2 pax tickets!
After that,
we used the local subway to the nearby station
where we stayed,
Zinkensdamm.
The subways there are really special,
very vintage.
After dropping our luggage,
we started our sight-seeing right away!
We came to Nybroplan
to take tram to Vasamuseet...
The area where Vasamuseet is located,
has many other tourist attractions....
However, Arne was only interested in Vasamuseet
(at least among all of them that require entry fees :))
If you are not interested in museums,
just walk around this area
looking at the nice architecture of the buildings
is super amusing!
So,
after Vasamuseet... we were super hungry...
and the best meal one can get in Sweden,
in my opinion is buffet!
We went to this little restaurant named
"Rice"
The food was great,
the price was very acceptable
so we were very satisfied.
We went back to the hotel after the nice meal,
had a rest,
and then went out again for more sight-seeing.
Since we had a 24-hour ticket,
so we wanted to see everything that was not in walk-able distance that day!
So first was the city hall...
We took the subway to central station,
crossed the Stadhusbron,
and ta da...
city hall was in front of us!
From there,
one could enjoy breathtaking view of Gamla Stan...
Once we were done with city hall,
we started the hunt of beautiful subway stations in Stockholm.
First was this T-centralen!
Second one was
Kungsträdgården Station...
One special thing about these subway stations in Stockholm is that
many of them are super super deep
** Although none of the stations in Stockholm
was on the list of deepest subway stations in the world**
And then....
HOT HOT red the Solna Centrum station!
And after that,
Tekniska Högskolan Station!
Last but not least Stadion station,
with more arts and rainbow!!
That's all for our day 1.
Day 2 we started the sightseeing by walking to Gamla Stan...
We walked past Mariatorget,
Söderström...
and finally we were at Gamla Stan!
We were super lucky
to bump into the Royal Guard ceremony
at the palace.
There are many nice bridges connecting Gamla Stan with the mainland...
After visiting the palace,
we crossed Strömbron...
had a great view of
all buildings around there...
and landed at this cozy outdoor restaurant,
"Tehuset" for
our lunch!
Well, the food was OK.
The atmosphere was GREAT,
but the weather was really not on our side during that time!
To be continued....
XOXO
