25-02-2019 Bong & His CNY 2019 - From Penang to Kedah, then Kedah to KL

Since we had some time
after visiting Kek Lok Si,
I decided we could also visit Penang Hill....
The cabin car took us
to the top of Penang Hill...
and when we reached there,
it was sunset time...
I guess they had this
My First Love thingy
because of the valentine...
Anyway,
we walked up to the Hindu temple
but it was under renovation...
We spent some time
enjoying the night view of Penang...
We could even see
Kek Lok Si temple
whihc was not finish decorated yet...
After spending 1 hour ++ at Penang Hill,
we took grab and went back to the hotel,
had a take away Mamak dinner,
and enjoyed the rest of the wine that we had...
The next day morning,
we went to this Asia Cafe for
vegetarian breakfast...
and then packed our stuffs,
continued the holidays
at my hometown,
Sungai Petani...
From ferry to bus,
everything went super smooth...
and I was super impressed with the new
Penang Sentral!
We spent almost a week
at my hometown....
celebrated Lajla's birthday,
Chinese New Year, etc etc...
then it was time to
travel to Kuala Lumpur....
It was our first time
taking the ETS train
from Sungai Petani to KL...
and we have learned how cold it can be in a Malaysian fast train!
From KL central,
we took monorail to Bukit Bintang,
and all went well until we reached Bukit Bintang station....
There is no elevator or lift at the station!!!!!!
Anyway,
we managed to carry our luggage...
checked in at our hotel,
Hotel Royal....

To be continued...

20-02-2019 Bong & His CNY 2019 - From city to hill top

We arrived at Georgetown,
checked in to our hotel,
then it was time to get some food for our stomach!
Of course I had to let Janne and Laija
try out the famous Penang Char Kueh Teow!
Then we walked from there we stayed,
nearby to Little India
towards the jetty area...
Next to Street Art "Susu Soya Asli & Segar"
on our way to the jetty,
we paid a quick visit at this
new place that we had never visited before...
It is actually a pretty cool place
with cafe,
art and handcrafts...
Then we arrived at
this 'same procedure as every year' landmark,
Clan Jetties Of Penang...
But our visit this year
was much earlier before the Chinese New Year
So it was much more quiet than we were used to..,
And this time around,
we even had time and 'mood' to enjoy yummy fried ice-cream there....
After having our dessert/small snack,
we walked through the super long cafe, Chinahouse,
went back to the hotel
and had some rest
plus some white wines...
Lol!
In the evening,
I decided to try out something
that I had seen long time ago on Facebook
On our way there,
we passed by the Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower
and Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower....
Then only we arrived at this
Project Nasi Lemak Box.
With the help from the waitress there,
we ordered like a family package
and their famous dish
mini lobster baked with cheese!
The mine lobster actually tasted very average.
It was not much meat...
but I guess one gets what one has paid for.
Overall the mini lobster nasi lemak
was just OK.
Nice to try it out
but it is not something I would consider twice....
After the dinner,
we spent sometime walking around the area....
The pathway beside Padang Kota Lama
was decorated so beautifully with
mini air balloons that were painted
by kids in the air balloon festival...
We walked from the Padang Kota Lama,
passed by Fort Cornwallis
made a turn at the tower
and then headed back to hotel,
continued our white wine drinking...
Lol!
The next morning,
we had a very local authentic Penang breakfast
Hokkien Mee,
Roti Kahwin,
and half boiled egg...
But too bad,
our guests from Norway didn't like them very much...
After the breakfast,
we paid a fast visit
to a very old and famous temple,
Goddess of Mercy Temple Penang...
From there,
we continued the sight-seeing
to Peringin Mall,
Komtar,
then a simple economy rice and ended this afternoon trip
at Arne's favorite shop.
In the late afternoon,
we decided to go to Kek Lok Si temple...
On our way up to the temple,
we were told that the temple was closing soon....
Of course we were not aware about
its operating hours
because we were there always during Chinese New Year...
The workers were busy
hanging the lights,
lanterns and all decoration stuffs....
It was really great to see
most visitors hang the ribbons of wishing
for world peace...
We rushed our way
down to exit...
and before its closing time,
we were already asked to use another road to go down hill...
Kek Lok Si temple has been expanding
and changing a lot...
The old charming turtle pond that I remember has been moved
and the cable car would have more stations!
Since we finished our trip to Kek Lok Si much earlier than we had thought,
so we had time for another tourist attraction....
To be continued...

XOXO
