09-12-2018 Bong & Family Trip in Bratislava (Day 8- When the tourist attraction doesn't look right...)

On our second day in Bratislava,
I wanted to visit the Fountain of Union...
because it looks good in Google and tourist brochure...
Like this one
(Photo from Peter Prazenka)
but all we managed to see was a fountain like that
Right beside the fountain
is the Summer Archbishop's Palace.
I thought we could go in,
but NOPE....
So we ended up spending
less than 10 minutes there....
We took the bus/tram to
Presidential Palace and
Planet of Peace Fountain....
We were lucky enough
to be there at the right timing
where they had the changing of guard ceremony...
Then from there,
we took the bus/tram to
Slavín.
From the nearest stop,
we had to walk like 10 minutes....
to this war memorial,
monument and burial ground of Soviet Army soldiers
who died in World War II....
Since it is located at the hilltop,
this place also offers breathtaking view of the city...
After leaving the monument,
we had a break at this restaurant
Pizza & Grill Búdková
From what we had observed,
they do have good pizza,
but we did not eat here,
because pizza isn't pappa kind of thing....
Instead,
we went into the city center
and settled our lunch
at this asian fast food restaurant
'Saigon Bistro'!
The food is cheap,
nice
and quite big portion...
From Saigon Bistro,
we walked to our very last sight-seeing destination
which was this Blue Church....
 Blue Church of St. Elizabeth
(Modrý Kostol sv. Alžbety)
It was closed when
we were there...
So I just took a picture from the glass door
and then we left.
After a few hours of sight-seeing,
it was pretty obvious
what could make Arne happy....
He wanted to have his hair cut,
so we made an appointment
and while we were waiting for that,
we continued to walk more in the neighborhood.

In the evening,
I decided to explore another side of Bratislava...
So we went to Zochova,
took a bus from there...
and crossed the bridge
to another side of Bratislava!
We came to this giant
shopping mall
'Aupark'.
On the top floor,
they have food court which
offers many kind of food options
but of course,
with pappa and mamma,
they would always choose asian food!
We went to this
Sunshine Restaurant...
The food is cheap,
in big portion
and quite good in taste!
The shopping mall is very very big
but we weren't in the mood for more shopping.
So we headed back to our hotel on the boat...
and got ourselves to
an early train
the next day....

To be continued...
XOXO
-Bong-
