This year Easter,
we decided to do something super simple.
And all we needed was relaxation, cheap food & alcohol...
so we took train to Karlstad!
We stayed at Scandic Winn,
which was located in the city center in a way.
So 10 minutes walking from the train station (we departed right after work on Wednesday),
and close to restaurants,
shops like Coop,
and price was good as well!
It was the first trip during pandemic time
when we could have a buffet breakfast.
So it was really strange feeling...
VERY great buffet there by the way!
The first day there was a greyish day,
so it was a lot of indoor sight-seeing....
We walked and walked,
and suddenly we were at this area Kvarteret Almen,
areas with old buildings that survived the great fire in 1865
Right beside these buildings
is Klarälven river...
We did not walk to walk too far away from the city center,
so we made a turn somewhere after Kvarteret Almen....
We have been drinking Löfbergs
and surprisingly the factory is actually there!
After about an hour walking in drizzle,
we bought some alcohols & then headed back to the hotel....
One thing great with Scandic Winn
was definitely this sauna
and the jacuzzi!
Time for another buffet!
Our late lunch was at this Yomo Karlstad!
Some reviews say this is the best buffet in Karlstad; yes 99 Swedish kroner
LOTS of dishes to choose from!
The restaurant is actually located
inside the shopping mall Mitt i city...
After a super heavy lunch,
we walked around the city center...
Stora Torget, Peace monument,
Värmlands tingsrätt (the district court)
The next day was a much sunnier day,
see the same church in these two pictures!
We walked from the area Haga
towards somewhere with a better view of the Vänern,
the largest lake in Sweden.
Fun fact, the river Klarälven is also Sweden's longest river!
We walked to Bergholmen
and then crossed a few bridges,
and went to Mariebergsskogen....
The park was so wonderful
with lots of cute animals...
and yes... sign of spring as well!
From Mariebergsskogen,
we walked past Stadsträdgården....
Dinner was at this Spicy Hot restaurant.
Not buffet style, but very good and cheap asian food!
Since we had to stay four nights at Karlstad,
we really did not want to stay at the same place,
for the same breakfast for all four days.
So the next hotel was this
Elite Stadshotellet Karlstad...
AMAZING buffet breakfast!
and of course not to forget,
the wonderful view from rooftop
and this nice pool as well!

We walked around Wermland Opera House,
along the river...
towards Värmlands Museum
and there were many interesting statues....
Right beside Värmlands museum,
Cyrillushuset (art museum)
and
Sandgrund Lars Lerin (art gallery of
a contemporary watercolor artist).
We did not enter any of them...
as museums were really not our thing.
Then dinner time!
We went to this östra bron,
which was a old stone bridge...
before we came to this
Mongolian Steamhouse...
Of course, buffet AGAIN!
The food was so-so,
not as good as Yomo's.
Then the last day,
we had to take a bus,
then a train due to some railway maintenance work.
We were already been informed that when we bought the tickets.
Still, just to play safe we went there a bit earlier to check things out!
Since we caught an earlier bus that drove like 30 minutes before
the one we should take,
we even had time to walk about this little town named Kil
before we departed the train!
