17-10-2018 Bong & Family Trip in Krakow (Day 1- Mamma's birthday)

Our trip in Krakow
started with taking a taxi that drove us all the way
to the place we gonna stay.
We stayed at this 24 guesthouse
and it is pretty central actually...
We successfully checked in ourselves
though it was some language barriers...
After the hectic morning
of traveling,
we were just hungry...
So when we saw this 21.99 PLN (50 NOK)
lunch of the day,
we decided just to go in and settle our lunch there!
The food was pretty good
and this cafe,
Pestka Z Awokado Restobar,
is also very cozy...
It was my mamma's birthday
so we celebrated it
with the dessert cake
included in the set lunch!
After we have filled our stomach,
it was time to let the food digest
and so we started our sight-seeing
in Krakow...
The city looks pretty 'old'
in my opinion...
We firstly came to this church,
Kościół pw. św. Wincentego a Paulo...
and right opposite of it
is a local market,
Stary Kleparz.
You can find clothes,
fresh and cheap
vegetables,
fruits,
chocolates to household stuffs there...
From there,
we visited the famous Pomnik Grunwaldzki...
The monument was erected
to commemorate the five hundredth anniversary
of the battle with the Teutonic Order.
And right in front of it,
is this adventure-like
Kraków Barbican,
which used to be the defense gateway from 1490s,
linking to the city walls.
From this entrance,
we started our walk of
The University Route.
We walked pass
the well-known
St. Florian's Gate (Brama Floriańska)...
It was like
walking to another new world...
with people selling drawings,
lots of branded shops...
and not to forget,
a liquor shop
where Arne could buy something for himself!
The end of the street
is this beautiful
St. Mary's Basilica....
and Rynek Główny,
a large medieval town square..
with palaces and churches surrounding it!
Cute looking horses
and fairy tale-like carriages...
The Cloth Hall
with lots of small shops inside there...
Art stalls,
souvenirs stalls,
handcraft stalls,
all you can find at this market square...
Adam Mickiewicz (the nationalist writer & poet) Monument
and Church of St. Wojciech
(Romanesque church)
It was so crowded
at the square,
so we walked out from it...
We saw something 'interesting'
and went back to buy it after
pappa and mamma had headed back
to their own room...
For our dinner,
we went to this nearby chinese restaurant
Dong Do,
because pappa was only interested in asian food.
The food was pretty good,
but they needed to do something with their lights.
The whole restaurant looked very dark....
We tried the polish beer and
only paid 80 PLN (175 NOK) for dinner of four!
The next day morning,
we found out that the breakfast which was included,
was something we gotta made ourselves...

To be continued...
XOXO
