31-12-2024 Bong & His Fourteen Post in 2024 - Singapore in Jan Part 2/2

After visiting Chinatown,
we went to Marina Bay Sands,
which features a luxury hotel, a casino,
and a unique SkyPark that resembles a ship perched on top of three hotel towers.
 They also have this
indoor gondola that rides at the Canal Level of The Shoppes,
which offers a Venetian-style river experience within the shopping mall....
**Ahem ahem.... shopping mall with big brands!!!
Of course,
we were not interested in those big brands.
So we went to see the nice views outdoor instead lol!
After that,
then we went back to Sim's home,
visited my uncle and then
went to a local place for dinner!
The next day,
we had a lovely meet-up
with my ex-classmate who is living now
in Singapore...
Since the meet-up was at a more local place,
we had a different kind of interesting experience to see Singapore.
We had a lovely Thai lunch
and then headed back to our hotel for a great rest.
After resting,
we decided to go on an impromptu trip to Gardens by the Bay.
We were in fact,
a bit lucky with the weather.
The SUPER HEAVY rain kinda stopped when we were there.
We went through a variety of themed gardens,
before we finally arrived at the Cloud Forest!
We were just simply amazed
with all the plants,
the waterfalls they managed to create,
lightings,
the entire floor plans...
EVERYTHING!
**A funny picture of Arne,
not too sure how I managed to get his hair red lol!
They also had environment-related shows,
some lively animals
at the very end of the Cloud Forest.
Besides the Cloud Forest
is the Flower Dome,
and of course,
the theme was Christmas when we were there!
Personally I think the lighting there
was a bit too dim.
But one big good surprise is,
they had Norwegian Christmas too!!!!
**The snake there was not "correct" for though...
Snakes are not very common in Norway
compared to many other countries.
The climate and environment are generally less suitable for a wide variety of snake species.
That's why I LOVE living in Norway hehe!
After visiting the Flower Dome,
then it was time to see Supertrees at night!
And after that,
then it was time for the water show at
Marina Bay Sands.
This stunning water show called "Spectra",
combines water, light, and music to create a captivating experience.
So when everything was done,
it was that late that we couldn't really find any food
nearby our hotel.
So....
ta da! Simple dinner at the kitchen of our hotel.
**By the way we stayed at this hotel
named lyf One-North Singapore,
which is super nice,
not super close to city center,
but cheap price and near to my agenda the last day in Singapore!
The next day,
which was also our last day in Singapore,
we had our breakfast at the food court at One-North,
then I headed to NUS
(National University of Singapore) alone...

It was a great academic visit,
and after that,
I met up with Arne at a subway station.
**So proud of him that managed to navigate around himself**
Since we had nothing else to do,
we headed to the airport early...
because we have never really explored the beauty of Changi Airport!
Since Qatar has Qsuite
for their route from Singapore to Doha,
we decided to give it a try...
And tja...
It was OK!
After traveling a few times business class,
I would say a bed is so important for us.
Other than the bed,
the rest was almost the same as other business class seats.

That's all for the Singapore trip!
XOXO
