-Day 3-
Since I was busy attending the conference most of the time,
Arne and I
only managed to do some nearby sightseeing.
On that day,
I also needed to attend the conference banquet.
Due to the timing constraints of French dinner hours,
we had a very simple meal at
this Gin Khao Beaurepaire Angers.
Our banquet was at this beautiful building
Grenier de Saint Jean....
-Day 4-
When the conference ended,
after receiving the best paper award,
I hurried to meet up with Arne,
and visit the tourist attraction I was most eager to see in Angers:
Château d'Angers!
Just the exterior of the fortress
was incredibly beautiful!
The trees, plants, and flowers
were trimmed in such an artistic and decorative manner....
And yes,
this was one of those rare occasions
where we paid to visit a tourist attraction!
The ticket cost around 10-12 euros,
as I recall,
but it was worth it because we got to see quite a lot,
both outdoors and indoors.
Another thing that made the ticket worthwhile
was the stunning views we enjoyed
from the top of the castle!
We visited Angers at the end of April,
while it was still not quite spring in Oslo.
So, we were thrilled to see beautiful flowers
and experience the spring-like atmosphere!
Besides the castle,
we got to visit the church as well...
In addition to historical stuffs,
we got to see art stuffs too!
**Too bad I did not google translate this pic
when I was there!!
Now I know what I have missed!!
We spent almost two hours
visiting the entire fortress and everything
inside the "paid" area....
Then we walked towards the main touristy area again,
since the weather was so nice,
and I had not really since much of the city.
And of course,
there was this beautiful building that I also had not visited yet,
Cathédrale Saint-Maurice d'Angers,
the Catholic cathedral!
One would definitely be amazed by the cathedral's ceiling.
There was an information board
that explained its design,
perfect for those interested in myth and history!
**I supposed :)
Ahha, not just the ceiling,
but the windows as well!
After visiting the cathedral,
we had a break,
at 220 °Celsius - Mange ta crêpe autrement!
This time
the crepe we had was more for tea-time,
sweet and not salty :)
Lastly,
a bit of souvenirs-shopping
**highly recommended to viist this
Adam House (House of artisans) in Angers**
before we left this beautiful city....
To be continued....
XOXO
