28-07-2024 Bong & His Ninth Post in 2024 - First time experiencing a place is closing for the season

After driving through farms
and narrow streets at a residential area...
we finally reached
the exciting tourist attraction!
*Μύλος του Ρορού*
It was supposed to be a scenic viewpoint,
situated high in the hill area!
However,
the place turned out to be an isolated location filled with numerous rocks!
Scenic view... not so much :)
Perhaps we came to the wrong place!
So, the visit was super brief.
After being there for not more than five minutes,
we headed to the very last destination...
On the way to that destination,
we suddenly noticed that the low fuel indicator
on the four-wheel drive had started blinking....
Since the area we were in was very rural,
I had to use Google to find out where the nearest petrol stations were.
We refueled at Ag. Leon,
then headed to Lidl!!!
**Parking four-wheel drives
at Lidl there did not appear to be something strange!
We as always,
had to try something new :)
Day 9:
After some work (for me) plus pool time,
we decided to dine at this nice restaurant
that we had walked past before,
Grecos.
We ordered shrimps saganaki
(shrimps in tomato sauce with garlic, parsley & fete cheese) and
chicken stir fry "tigania".
Starter,
dessert + napkin were on the house!
**This seemed to be very greek
Day 10:
We started our day with a delicious greek tomato
that was bigger than my palm.
Side note: greek tomatoes are so juicy and sweet!
Then we had a walk around the place we stayed.
And more and more hotels were closing
as the season was also drawing to a close.
Empty at the swimming pools,
hotels were closed and locked!
This was our first time experiencing a place was drawing a seasonal close.
Since it was so unusual to see almost everything closing during the daytime,
we also decided to explore a bit of the nightlife.
There were nothing much to find,
so we went back to the hotel after buying a bottle of alcohol :)
**It was our first time experiencing a shop selling alcohol in such a manner,
almost like they were selling seasoning sauces.lol
Day 11:
A visit to Argassi.
We first took a bus to Kalamaki,
then started our walk to the walk crossing a hill...
The trip started with going through residential areas,
farms and churches...
We were very unsure
if those areas were private or not,
but not much we could do really...
At least no one was there to STOP us!
After walking for 30 minutes,
we saw a sign,
two other tourists
(we were not alone!!)
So we were sure that we were heading the right direction.
We had our lunch break,
"visited" or more like had a quick look
at Akathistos Church,
and enjoyed the scenic view,
oceans,
with lots of nice houses!
On our way,
we came across this historical site,
"Water bridge of Argassi"...
Then yes,
after walking for almost 2 hours,
we finally reached Argassi!
We visited the church (Άγιος Ευστάθιος),
the beach,
and the famous stone bridge!
Before we left Argassi,
we also had something sweet,
and cold to recharge!
This Mylonas Bakery appeared to be
very popular,
crowded with local customers and tourists...
**Perhaps it was simply because
there was nothing else to be found in the neighbourhood**
When returning back to Kalamaki,
we chose to use another road...
a longer one!!
It was so warm that
even Arne had to take off his shirt!
It seemed like many of the local greek people
have their own grill facilities at home...
Suddenly,
we found ourselves in this Kanalos area,
and to our surprise,
there was this nice restaurant/ café!!
One could even lay there,
enjoy food and drinks
plus views all wrapped in one!
We ordered beers and greek salad only,
as we were not hungry at all,
only thirsty!
**On the house again,
very greek :)
and on the road again,
after a refreshing break!
Finally,
we were back to Kalamaki!!
We had something cold
and a gyros when waiting for the bus....
Unfortunately, on the very last day of the season,
the bus did not come :(
So we had to walk for another 1 hour ++
to get back home....

But it was a GREAT GREAT day!
XOXO
